Neymar Claims Saudi Pro League is Above Ligue 1
Brazilian superstar Neymar has made a bold claim regarding the strength of the Saudi Pro League, stating that it is now superior to France’s Ligue 1. Speaking in an interview with CNN, the Al Hilal forward backed Cristiano Ronaldo’s assessment of the Saudi league’s growth and quality.
Saudi Pro League is Growing Rapidly
Neymar emphasized that the Saudi Pro League has seen tremendous improvement, particularly with the influx of top talents. He stated:
> “I agree with Cristiano. Today, the Saudi League is ABOVE Ligue 1.”
The former PSG star believes that the level of competition in Saudi Arabia is increasing, making it a more attractive destination for top players worldwide.
Ligue 1 Still Holds Its Own
Despite his praise for the Saudi Pro League, Neymar acknowledged Ligue 1’s strengths. He admitted that the French league remains highly competitive and possesses quality teams and players. He stated:
> “But Ligue 1 has its strengths. It’s a very high-level championship. I know it well.”
Having played for Paris Saint-Germain for six seasons, Neymar is well-acquainted with the French league’s challenges and competitive nature.
Neymar’s comments add to the ongoing debate about the Saudi Pro League’s rise in global football. With numerous European stars moving to Saudi Arabia, the league’s reputation is growing. While Ligue 1 remains a top European league, Neymar believes Saudi Arabia is now a stronger competition.
