German football legend Lothar Matthaus has hinted at significant changes in Bayern Munich’s attacking setup next summer. Speaking on Sky90 (via Spox), Matthaus suggested that the club is likely to part ways with at least one, if not two, of their star wingers.

Matthaus: “Changes in the Wing Positions Are Certain

Matthaus did not hold back in predicting an overhaul in Bayern’s forward line, emphasizing that the trio of Kingsley Coman, Serge Gnabry, and Leroy Sane might not all remain at the club next season.
“There will definitely be some changes in the wing positions. There are three shaky candidates: Coman, Gnabry, and Sane,” Matthaus stated.

While refusing to name specific players who might leave, Matthaus was clear about the likelihood of departures.

New Signings on the Horizon?

Matthaus further added that Bayern Munich is already exploring new options for their attacking positions, suggesting that the club is actively planning for the future.
“At least one will leave, and possibly even two, as new names are also being discussed for these positions in Munich,” he explained.

This points to Bayern’s intent to refresh their squad, possibly targeting younger or more versatile talent to bolster their attack.

What It Means for Bayern Munich

If Matthaus’ predictions come true, Bayern Munich’s summer transfer window could see some high-profile departures and arrivals. The potential exits of Coman, Gnabry, or Sane would mark the end of an era for the club’s wing play, ushering in a new phase under Thomas Tuchel’s management.

A Summer of Change at Bayern?

Lothar Matthaus’ comments shed light on Bayern Munich’s evolving strategy for their attacking line. With one or two departures likely, fans can expect significant activity in the transfer market as the club looks to strengthen for the future. Who will leave, and who will arrive? Only time will tell, but big changes are undoubtedly on the horizon.
